The best part of the Holiday season is pulling out your makeup and creating a sexy look that people will remember. If you find yourself looking through your makeup bag clueless on where to start you are not alone. Creating a smokey eye doesn’t need to be ultra-complicated but most of us are out to lunch when it comes to which colors to use. Do I line the inside of my eyes? How do I avoid the two black eye look and so on. I have created a simple plan of attach for all my Beauties out there that want to achieve the perfect smokey eye for this festive season.
First, the most important step in creating a smokey eye is using an eye primer. You want your eye shadow to stay in place and last all night long and using an eye primer will insure this. Secondly, you want to have highly pigmented eye shadows, great picks for a smokey eye are silvers, matte blacks or deep black shadows with gold flecks. If you are feeling a little more adventurous choose greens, gold’s or purples as seen on the Runways of Milan and Paris. You will want to work the shadow in layers so that you are gradually building your smokey eye. Third, use a nude shadow as a highlighter on your brow bone, make sure it does not have any shimmer to it. Four, black eyeliner pulls the whole look together, keep the black eye liner as close to your lashes as possible as you apply the line. If you want to give an extra dramatic kick to your liner, line inside your water line (tight line) on the top of your lower lash line. You want the liner to gradually get thicker at the outer corners of your eye. Five, break out your blackest mascara. My personal choice is “Dior Show Black Out“ for lush dark lashes and don’t forget your bottom lashes. Six and final, blend, blend, blend you don’t want to see any hard lines of eye shadow … this is the key to achieving a sexy smokey eye.
