Thanksgiving is associated with turkey, pumpkin pie and horrible Dallas Cowboy football games, but thanks to “Gears of War 3” and “Batman: Arkham City,” it’s a big gaming day this year as well.
Epic Games is releasing free downloadable content (DLC) for “Gears of War 3” on November 24 called the “Versus Booster Map Pack,” which includes two new maps, Bulletmarsh and Clocktower from “Gears of War” and adds the maps Azura, Rustlung and Blood Drive from the recently released “Horde Command Pack” to the public playlists. This is DLC is separate from the “Season Pass,” so if you bought it early for the 33% discount on the first four DLC, don’t fret about being gipped.
In “Batman: Arkham City,” the first event for the “Storyteller” achievement, “12 murderous dates with the Calendar Man,” was on Halloween, which, if you’re like me, you missed it. Each Calendar Man event occurs on a holiday, unless you cheat by changing the internal time clock in your Xbox 360, so make sure to jump on every holiday to pick up the achievement, including the next holiday Thanksgiving (sorry Guy Hawkes Day). There’s a breakdown of each date, plus how to cheat to get the achievement, on Wikigameguides.com. While not all Batman villains can be the Joker or Ra’s Al Ghul, Calendar Man falls beneath even villains like Mad Hatter and Killer Moth.
Also, don’t forget to check out the recently released “Initiation Station” for “Saints Row: The Third” on Xbox Live (gold members only), which allows players to customize their character before the game’s release on November 15.
