Last week’s “Wine, Women & What to Wear” event at David Burke Fromagerie, Rumson, was a sold-out rollicking and rocking night of fun, fashion and fabulous food prepared by Executive Chef Larry Baldwin and Pastry Chef Stuart Marx.
The glammed-up ladies lined up at the bar for their flutes of Brut Rosé sparkling wine to sip as they nibbled on tasty hors d’oeuvres and sauntered around the dining rooms to check out chic fashions by Aysha Saeed, perfect for the upcoming holidays, and to try on hand-crafted gold and sterling jewelry from Poor Cat Designs®. The ladies were offered pampering and styling tips from certified salon consultant, Christine Zilinski, owner of Salon Concrete in Red Bank. Following a brief holiday fashion show by Aysha Saeed, it was time for the ladies to dine on a fall harvest three-course dinner perfectly paired with wines selected by Sommelier David Mensch.
Chef Baldwin’s harvest menu included an Autumn Squash Soup with crispy chestnuts and apples and Roasted Chicken Supreme with wholegrain mustard späetzle and Brussels sprouts or Seared Organic Scottish Salmon, followed by Chef Marx’s Port Poached Pear or Passionfruit Crême Brulée with coconut macadamia biscotti. After the elegant dinner, the ladies shopped further for their choice of a festive holiday outfit or a selection of holiday gifts for family and friends.
The evening was perfection and such a success that there will surely be more to follow – and maybe even a men’s night to ensure equality of the genders.
