Native Peoples of the Southwest Short Course Begins
Thursday, January 12, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This popular four-session course provides an opportunity to learn about the history, art and cultures of the Southwest and the first peoples of the region. The course is taught by Heard Museum Education Director Gina Laczko. Sessions are held on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., from January 12 to February 2, 2012, at Heard Museum Phoenix. The fourth session includes a tour of the Heard’s internationally renowned collection.Cost: $60 for Heard Museum members, $70 for non-members. Apache Celebration—Dinner and Performance by Dishchii’bikoh Apache Group
Saturday, January 21, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
In anticipation of the upcoming exhibit Beyond Geronimo: The Apache Experience, join us for a special treat: an Apache-inspired meal, followed by a cultural Apache dance. Apache dancers will perform the Crown Dance and the Woman Warrior Dance, accompanied by drummers and singers. A cash bar will open at 5:30, and dinner is served at 6 p.m. A brief introduction of the dancers will precede the performance at 7 p.m. Cost: $100 for Heard Museum members, $125 for non-members. Cost: $15 adults, $13.50 for seniors (65+), $7.50 for students with a valid student ID, $7.50 for children
(6-12). Children under 6, Heard Museum members and American Indians receive free admission.
