Reindeer Games starts off a bit slow with some story background but as things get rolling the tension builds nicely along with the action. Just about the time the film starts looking like a thriller dud, the twists start exploding faster than we can figure them out. With the thriller aspect running full-tilt the film stays interesting through the end which, despite being a Happily Ever After ending, is actually a fun ending to the story.
Acting was surprisingly pretty good in this one. Affleck seemed somewhat genuine most of the time and played well against Theron and Sinise. Theron did very well in her role, switching easily between attitudes. Sinise was a bit quirky as usual but pulled off his part nicely. Supporting work was well done by the remainder of the cast.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were solid throughout the film. Physical effects were nicely done with good fire and car scenes. Dialogue was good and felt fairly consistent. Sound and soundtrack were okay.
Overall Reindeer Games is a decent crime thriller with a nice blending of action and thriller components that keep the film entertaining with only a few slow spots. Those who enjoy a good dose of deception will enjoy this the most.
With plenty of violence, foul language, and sexuality including nudity save this one for the oldest teens or adults.
Reindeer Games is no longer showing in any Littleton, Colorado movie theatres.
