From time to time I like to interview local designers, and members of the Colorado fashion scene. Recenlty I got the opportunity to interview the women behind First Class Fashionista, one of my favorite blogs and fellow business partner. First Class Fashionista is an amazing source for what’s hot in fashion, celebrity buzz, contests and more. Lonza Dennis shared with me her insperatrions for the blog, her background and some of her favorite fashioin designers, with that here is the interview:
Name: Lonza Dennis
About First Class Fashionista: First Class Fashionista is a top celebrity lifestyle, fashion, beauty and all entertainment news blog.
How did you come up with the idea of First Class Fashionista?
I am a proud stay-at-home mom to three very smart and beautiful daughters. When my two oldest daughters went off to college and my youngest was becoming more independent, I realized I suddenly had a lot of free time. Then I started to think about how I would write the next chapter of my life. I was still needed at home, but I was interested in starting a home-based business. It had to be something I would love doing.
On November 6, 2007, my mom’s 62nd birthday, I was sitting in my home office talking to my husband about my interest in starting a celebrity fashion and lifestyle blog funded via affiliate marketing. This was the beginning of the idea of “First Class Fashionista”. Fashionista was becoming a part of the daily vernacular, but the domain was taken so I came up with “First Class Fashionista”. The irony of the whole story is, in college a professor said I had a gift for writing and asked me what I was going to do with it; and this is what I ask my writers today.
Why do you think it’s important for women to read blogs like yours?
According to a few studies, women bloggers are very influential. A study found that 80% of blog readers make a purchase based on a bloggers recommendation. With that said, blog readers should be very choosy when it comes to internet browsing time. There are people looking to take advantage of the social media marketing boom. At “First Class Fashionista”, we proudly produce quality, original work that begins with honesty. Our articles are not fabricated or purchased, and our experiences are real. We value our readers and we know our readers are smart, so we do our homework. Our sources are credible and we even fact check press releases.
How do you help women with their personal style and beauty needs?
We do fashion how-tos, create looks for your body type and occasion, interview designers, review products and share the news about just launched fashion, beauty collections and related industry events. At “First Class Fashionista”, we believe fashion is a lifestyle so our articles also include fitness tips and so much more.
What are some of your favorite styles, fashions, or beauty stories or tips you learned through your blog?
As the Managing Editor of “First Class Fashionista”, I get to know who my writers really are through the tips they share. Some of my favorite beauty related tips are found in our health and fitness success stories. One of my writers wrote about training for and running the BolderBoulder, and my newest Fitness Fashionista Monique Battiste just wrote about her journey to living a healthier lifestyle. She is now a NPC Figure Competitor.
Blogs are more and more popular than ever and can be considered a news source, how do you keep up with all the information and time put into the blog?
There’s never enough time, and there is always too much information. At “First Class Fashionista”, we have to be selective. Everything that we get in our inbox, will not make it onto the site. What gets published at “First Class Fashionista” is an expression of our own personal interests as writers and what we believe our readers would enjoy.
Thank you Lonza for your time and sharing with us!
