The new year is nearly upon us and what better way to kick off 2012 than to add a new pet to your home! There’s not too many events going on this weekend so I’ll be featuring adoptables from area rescues and shelters that all have one thing in common. Today all of the wonderful pets featured are black and white. Won’t you welcome and oreo puppy or tuxedo kitty into your family?

Adopt King (Pictured)!
King is a 7-month-old puppy who didn’t have a lot of experience in a house – but he is learning pretty quickly. King, his siblings Jewel and Duke and their mom Mandy were surrendered to AABR from a terrible puppy mill situation. He now knows how to use the stairs, sit quietly in his crate and eat all his food without help. He’s learning to use a leash and his foster mom says he’s almost completely housebroken. He just LOVES toys! He also love other doggies and currently lives with a bunch of foster brothers and sisters, large and small. King is still a bit shy of this big world, so he’ll need a home that will help him come out of his shell. He’s learning to trust humans again and is waiting to meet you at this Saturday’s event! If you’re interested in giving King or any of his family a forever home, apply today at www.adoptaboxerrescue.net/onlineforms/application.htm.

Google loves to play with other dogs, taking a toy up to them and nudging them with it so his ideal home should definitely include another playful pup for his enjoyment. He does tend to want to be in charge so the other dog(s) should be tolerant of that. When Google first came to PAW, he had been treated off and on for kennel cough which eventually lapsed into pneumonia without anyone realizing it. Google went through several medical procedures since then and despite everything Google has been through, he continues to get pleasure out of life. So while he is enjoying his life now, he will be a dog that will need regular monitoring and care into the future. Please contact PAW to meet Google as he is now ready for his forever home! If you would like to meet Google, or for more information about him or any of the other wonderful PAW dogs, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Charm City Animal Rescue
Jemma is an absolutely lovely tuxedo lady who was found by a good Samaritan and brought into CCAR. Jemma was named after the cartoon Jem from the ’80s, who’s lead character had a big star over one eye. She’s a wonderful cat, not demanding or obnoxious and she has the best pink nose! Jemma is spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV. If you’d like to adopt Jemma or learn more about her, please e-mail CharmCityAnimals@gmail.com.
Scooter was adopted on Valentine’s Day 2010 when he was just 8 weeks old. In September 2011, that family decided that they weren’t the right home for him and took him back to the shelter. Scooter is a real charmer, he loves getting his head rubbed and even enjoys a good belly rub. Scooters got a playful side, his favorite playtime includes chasing the laser light and trying to catch the ball in one of the toys. His former family said that he was great with kids and he’s been very tolerant of dogs and cats in his foster home so he would be great for just about any family. Scooter is up to date on vaccines, neutered, tested and micro-chipped If you’d like to adopt Scooter or learn more about him, please e-mail CharmCityAnimals@gmail.com.

Domino is 5 years old and originally came to BHS with her pal Fiona because their owner got sick and couldn’t care for them anymore. She was adopted once, but unfortunately her family became allergic to her and was sad to have to see her go. She is a big girl now, but that just means there’s more of her to love! Domino has experience being a great pet, and is am hoping to settle into her next home forever. If you are looking for a cat like Domino, please come into the shelter so you can meet this sweet kitty!

Dogs XL Rescue
Storm is a 3-year-old border collie/rottweiler mix who is young, active and super unique looking. Storm is very playful, loves being outside, loves walks, greets everyone like they’re his best friend, and has some very funny habits. Storm has lived with dogs and cats and does well living with them. He is a little too bouncy for younger kids, but would do great with tweens and above. He needs a calm and positive owner who will work with Storm to elegantly and positively learn boundaries, rules and confidence. Because of a previous owner’s neglect, Storm is fearful of cages and thus far has been unable to be crated as he expresses negative behaviors like barking and growling when crated. So, he will need a patient owner who can help him work through his crate issues with tons of positive reinforcement. If you are interested in adopting Storm, please download the Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the application online at www.dogsxlrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire.

Zoe is a 1-year-old who was rescued out of a shelter in South Carolina. This sweet girl loves other dogs and her favorite hobby is snuggling on laps. She weighs under 10lbs and could really put on a few pounds. She gets along great with her foster brother and walks well on a leash. She is learning house training, but she is super food motivated, so it won’t take her long to learn. If you are interested in adopting Zoe from MMR, please fill out the adoption questionnaire at www.muttsmatterrescue.com/adoption_app.html.
Don’t you just love this freckly face? Joy is looking for an active owner who can give her the exercise (and attention!) she needs. If you’re interested in adopting Joy, please stop by the Maryland SPCA to meet her or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
