Friday, Weight Watchers announced changes to the PointPlus program for 2012, and some changes have already taken effect. Some Weight Watchers monthly pass members noticed a change in their weekly number of allotted points this week as Weight Watchers made changes to the current program. Weight Watchers members who were at the minimum of 29 points may have seen their daily points lowered.
The changes to the PointsPlus program won’t officially be announced in full until next week. But meeting organizers said that the minimum number of daily points will now drop to 26, and this number will be based on height, weight, age, etc. Changes to the daily point allotment won’t change for those who had points set at over 29 points.
Some of the new features of the plan include new activity goals, and a Simply Filling program. Information will be given to Weight Watchers members next week at the meetings. The Weight Watchers website has also undergone changes over the last week, and many new features have been added.
Studies have shown that people who lose the weight slowly, and exercise and eat less tend to keep the weight off.
Weight Watchers was recently chosen by US News and World Report as the best overall commercial diet because it is based on simply exercising and eating smaller portions. There are no special foods required and dieters can eat whatever they like, but the focus is on eating more fruits, vegetables and protein. Even after they lose the weight, Weight Watchers dieters can continue eating the plan even if they stop going to weekly meetings, or doing Weight Watchers online.
