I just spent an afternoon with a group of folks that have reached out to the DPSS/GAIN to see about options for income, most have lost unemployment benefits and still have not found work. As I connected with these folks they shared how long they have been trying to get a job or something, most came in discouraged and ready to give up. The exciting part was watching the wheels turn in their heads as we wrapped up the day.
The potential in that little room at the DPSS local office was bursting out of the walls, even the California State employee in the room monitoring what was said saw the amazing potential. The key is now what do they do with the opportunity that manifested in front of them. Do they get up and act on what they saw or go home and wait to see what knocks on their door, maybe.
The question for you today is what potential is before you today? What are you not saying yes to? What are you afraid of? What will you do different in 2012 than in 2011?
The amazing part of starting a business is you can make it anything you want it to be, no one limits you except you. So many folks here in Southern California are struggling to make ends meet, grabbing at anything hoping something will manifest. What if you sat down and planned out a business passion/idea and just did it? Can you imagine doing something you love to do? Do you want it bad enough?
As this group shared their passions we saw a business take shape, each person in the room had a passion that made the vision complete. Collaboration! What an amazing thing in that room as a sparkle of hope was being fanned. What passion in your life needs to be fanned?
There are so many ways you can launch a business today with little or no out of pocket expenses. This is so different than it was 10 or 15 years ago when it had to be brick and mortar plus money to start. My challenge to you as we wrap up the last week of 2011 is to see what your passions might be, what do you love to do? Then determine if your passions can solve a problem in your community or meet a need. From there you can create the business of your dreams, step by step. Stop getting ready to get ready and launch into 2012 with a new mindset of wanting to get it done.
Keep in mind our nation was founded by small business owners and entrepreneurs, today we see it reverting back to this mindset. You see big corporations put many small businesses out of business, however today we see small business thriving and the big corporations failing. The difference is small business owners really care about service, product and the repeat customer. Big business sees the dollar signs and greed they have created.
Share your passions here in the comments and lets rally around small business and help you launch into 2012!
