Upon entering the 5 Guys Burgers & Fries Meridian location, we were greeted with a hearty hello and sincere smile from the cashier who was ready, willing and more than able in taking our order. While the restaurant was busy and had a great energy within the walls, everyone seemed to be having a good time. The cashier took a moment and explained the menu to us and how 5 Guys was different from every other burger joint in town. He successfully guided us to the start of what turned out to be a great meal.
Our order of a Cheeseburger, Little Bacon cheeseburger and a regular order of fries was taken quickly and with no complications. There was a long list of choices to top our burgers which makes it a true creation of your own.
As we wound our way through the busy dining room to an open table, we grabbed a few of the complimentary peanuts that were a nice touch while we waited for our meal. Being in a clean and brightly lit restaurant, munching on peanuts while waiting for our gourmet, freshly cooked burgers, actually was a nice change to some of the other smaller places we have been in lately.
The first thing that stood out to us when we got our bag, yes bag, because every order is bagged to go, was the heaping mound of French fries that were piled into it. It seems that a regular order of fries ($1.79) as well as a large order comes with an extra scoop of the fresh delicious house fries. This regular order was easily enough for both of us and being the French fry connoisseur that I am, I really enjoyed the extra scoop touch as much as I did the freshly cook fries.
My Cheeseburger ($5.59) that was actually a double because that’s how the regular burger comes, was cooked fresh and one of the best burgers that I have had in a very long time. The Little Bacon cheeseburger ($4.39) was just as delicious a burger and the crispy bacon and fresh toppings just set the burger over the top. The hand formed burgers are cooked fresh and with no freezers in the building, are never frozen. They had a wonderful taste and the buns were amazing and had a different special taste to them. I found out that they are proprietary to 5 Guys and you can’t get them anywhere else.
5 Guys Burgers and Fries is definitely a gourmet burger and is worth the price that you pay and again that extra scoop of fries that get thrown in the bag make it a great meal. This was an experience that will have you satisfied until the end. I highly recommend this growing burger franchise to anyone that is looking for a great burger and an abundance of fries!
