Omaha, Nebraska – A woman has been arrested in conjuction with a terrible act of animal cruelty.
Behind bars – Monica Andrews, 44.
The alleged crime? Starving her 4 month old Pit bull puppy, Gotti, to death.
The pup had been left alone inside of Andrew’s home back in November while the woman left town.
For some reason, she left no one in charge of the puppy – provided nothing to sustain him while she was away.
The horrific incident occurred in late November – Andrew’s arrest happened late Wednesday night.
According to KMTV news, Andrew’s contacted the Nebraska Humane Society to pick up the puppy’s body after he died.
Officials from the Humane Society indicate that Andrew’s seemed to think that the pup’s death was “not a big deal”.
A necropsy on Gotti confirmed that the pup died of starvation.
Now, Andrews is behind bars and facing felony animal cruelty charges. If convicted, she could face up to five years behind bars.
Five years for her to contemplate the pain and suffering that she inflicted on an innocent animal.
Rest in Peace Gotti.
