December 30, 2011—No matter where her music was played, British singer, Adele topped the charts. News this week has been awfully good to the “21” songstress. Not only did recent reports have her at selling five million copies of her sophomore album in a single year, but now the music site Spotify has revealed that Adele appears on the top 10 list for Spotify 2011 in a country-by-country comparison.

The Spotify charts for 2011
The numbers come from the Spotify charts for the last year and include countries like the UK, the US, France, and Sweden. Adele is enjoying an unparalleled popularity worldwide; not many artists make Spotify’s list from one border to the next, although Rihanna is said to come close.
In the US, acts like Maroon 5 and Foster the People were popular whereas Brunco Mars and Katy Perry nabbed the top spots for the site in the UK.
The numbers for Spotify 2011 are promising. The site now boasts two-and-half million paying customers.
Music aficionados on sites like Inside Pulse have named Adele the favored child of the year, saying that they ran into the singer’s music everywhere whether it be on the iPod or on YouTube.
Adele’s album “21” spent 45 weeks on the charts with 14 of the weeks being at number one.
