Sat it isn’t so! It looks like celeb designer Nate Berkus and crew will pack up their bags as his show, The Nate Berkus Show has been cancelled. Premiering back in 2010, the show provides viewers with a variety of lifestyle tips ranging from decorating to entertaining. The show also featured guest appearances from celebs like Julianne Moore, Brooke Shields, Paula Deen and more. Nate even landed a special interview with First Lady, Michelle Obama. So what happened?
“After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season,” says Sony and Harpo Productions. Low ratings may have played a strong factor in the involved party’s decision. Not reaching the viewership milestones they originally hoped, The Nate Berkus Show will cease production at the end of its current season. In addition to poor ratings, there is also buzz that the network (NBC) is making room to premiere a new slew of talk shows, making open time slots very scarce. The Nate Berkus Show also was expensive to produce.
We must admit that we did not watch Nate’s show, but are still saddened to hear this news. Maybe HGTV will pick up the series or repurpose it into a more successful show? One would think Oprah and her new OWN network would come to the aid of her fav designer, but we aren’t too certain as Harpo (an Oprah-owned production company) had a hand in his cancellation. Or with the Rachael Ray show become daytime’s #1 show for lifestyle needs? What are your thoughts regarding the canceling of The Nate Berkus Show?
