Reality TV personalities Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez were engaged to be married after Ali chose Roberto on the finale of The Bachelorette (Season 6), but it seems their fairytale ending has just had an ending of its own. When Ali and Roberto went public with plans to delay their wedding a few weeks ago, some were questioning if their relationship was in trouble. Now, news that Ali and Roberto split up confirms the speculation.
Ali and Roberto Break Up Just Weeks After Calling Off Wedding
When Bachelorette fans heard Ali and Roberto split recently, they took to social media to offer their thoughts. Fan Melissa S. wrote on Fedotowsky’s Facebook wall, “I’m so sorry to hear of your break-up. Stay strong!” Brian L. also shared his disappointment at the news on Facebook, writing, “I just wanted to express my sadness for the both of you. I am surprised how much this news has impacted me. I don’t know either of you, but you seemed to be a couple that would [go the distance].”
Here in Tucson, fans of The Bachelorette who watched Ali and Roberto fall in love in Season 6 are still learning of the split. When we told local Bachelorette viewer Casey T. of Ali and Roberto’s break up, it was the first he had heard of it. Casey told us, “I’m not surprised, though. I think she picked Roberto because he seemed more exciting, but the other guy seemed more down to Earth. I remember thinking she should pick Chris L. during the finale.”
On her Facebook wall Sunday, heading into Thanksgiving week, Ali Fedotowsky seemed to be thanking her friends, family and fans for their support without directly mentioning the break up. “Feeling very thankful for all the beautiful, kind, giving people in my life.”
As recently as early November, Ali and Roberto made a public appearance together, and Fedotowsky sent out an endearing tweet on Twitter on Nov. 6 about Martinez’s reaction to a game on TV. “I think @Roberto_M_Jr might have a heart attack while watching his football game. Lots of yelling at the TV & pacing around the room lol.” The two have shared an apartment in San Diego for about a year.
Though the couple have long cited time constraints and scheduling hardships as reasons for putting off their nuptials, former Bachelorette Ali and her fiance, Roberto, managed to throw together a return trip to romantic Bora Bora on the anniversary of their engagement earlier this year. The two were originally engaged on the island during The Bachelorette Season 6 finale.
FYI- Almost none of the couples created as a result of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette have actually made it to the alter, and even fewer are still together. Shocker!
