The Allen Americans extended their home winning streak to five games tonight with a 3-2 overtime win over the Texas Brahmas in front of 4,132 at the Allen Event Center in Allen, TX. The victory improves the Americans record to 14-4-4 (32 points) on the season.
Despite being awarded three powerplay opportunities including a brief 5-on-3, the Americans trailed the Brahmas 2-0 through twenty of minutes of play. Brahmas forward Brendon Hodge found the back of the net first 3:33 into the frame to put Texas on top 1-0 followed by a goal from Adam Hogg with 4:27 remaining in the period that extended the Brahmas lead to 2-0.
Marco Cousineau finished the opening period with 11 saves while Texas netminder Steve Silverthorn stopped 6.
Jarret Lukin got the Americans on the board and cut the Brahmas lead to 2-1 7:54 into the second period when his wrister from the left circle beat Silverthorn. Trevor Hendrikx and Bruce Graham were credited with the assists on the play.
Through forty minutes of play in Allen, the Americans trailed the Brahmas in shots 16-13.
The third period would see the Americans knot the score at 2 with 5:51 remaining in regulation when Jason Deitsch fired the rebound from Trevor Hendrikx’s shot on the powerplay past Steve Silverthorn. The goal was Deitsch’s seventh of the season.
After neither team was able to find the back of the net during the remainder of regulation, the Americans and Brahmas would head to overtime for the second time this season. Unlike the previous outing, this one would not require a shootout as Scott Langdon’s wrister from on top of the circle would find the back of the net just 0:59 into the extra frame to give the Americans a 3-2 win. The goal was Langdon’s first of the season.
Marco Cousineau finished the night with 22 saves on 24 shots to improve to 9-1-1 with Allen this season.

The Americans will continue their three-game homestand tomorrow night with a 7:05 PM faceoff against the Laredo Bucks before beginning a three game set with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Sunday evening at 5:05 PM. Allen and RGV will then hit the road for a Wednesday night meeting in Hidalgo at 7:00 PM before returning to the AEC for a 7:05 PM match-up next Friday night.
