Do you know of someone in the Vallejo area who you feel really deserves recognition for championing causes that support our community? More than likely, this person is one who operates ‘under the radar’ – working effectively and tirelessly, especially when not doing these efforts would go unnoticed.
Now is the time to speak up and let us know. lodeplus.com, the parent company of our Vallejo Community Issues Examiner site and a host of other hyper-local blogs, is launching a America Inspired contest. The rules are very specific and numerous so we won’t be listing them now. Read the rules here.
Cash prizes offered
In short, there will be one (1) potential Nominee Grand Prize winner, one (1) potential Examiner Grand Prize winner, four (4) potential Nominee Runner Up Prize winners and four (4) potential Examiner Runner Up Prize winners. The prizes shall consist of the following:
- Nominee Grand Prize = U.S. $50,000
- Examiner Grand Prize = U.S. $10,000
- Each Nominee Runner Up Prize = U.S. $10,000
- Each Examiner Runner Up Prize = U.S. $1,000
How finalists are selected: Examiner staff will select the finalists in each category and then Examiner readers will have the opportunity to vote for their choices. The finalists with the most votes in each category (listed below) will be the winners.
HOW TO NOMINATE:
Read the categories below and nominate your individuals by entering a Comment in the Comment section(below) of this posting. Vallejo Community Issues Examiner will have the final say about which nominees we will highlight at our site (and which readers will then vote for, should our nominees make the finalist final cut.)
Make sure 1) Your nominee choice satisfies all the Examiner contest rules and lives or works in the Vallejo area 2) Include an email address where we can reach you. (Should we choose to pursue nominating your choice we will need more information to feature your nominee at our site. (including a digital image that we will publish at our site)).

Leadership – They make decisions that inspire others to follow in their footsteps or strive to achieve a similar greatness. Nominees in this Category must be eighteen years old, or older.
Overcoming Adversity – To overcome adversity, one must believe in his or her abilities, defy the odds, and strive relentlessly toward a goal. . Nominees in this Category must be eighteen years old, or older.
Sacrifice – Sacrifice requires courage and compassion. Nominees in this Category must be eighteen years old, or older.
Passion – Individuals who are truly passionate are not only committed to their beliefs, ideas or talents, but are in love with the possibility of what they can achieve. Nominees in this Category must be eighteen years old, or older.
Outstanding Youth – You don’t have to grow up to do something incredible. An outstanding youth is someone who has not only turned the heads of their peers, but sets an example for all generations through their outreach and maturity. Nominees in this Category must be seventeen years old, or younger.
- The Vallejo Comminity Issues Examiner submits Qualifying Articles (about chosen nominees) from November 3, 2011 to December 9, 2011.
Judges review and select finalists (as described below), and Examiner announces the finalists on or about December 16, 2011,
lodeplus.com users cast votes from December 16, 2011 to January 16, 2012.
Examiner will announce the potential winning Nominees (as defined ) and corresponding winning Examiners on or about January 25, 2012.
Bottom line: We need to hear about your nominees ASAP and no later than 11/28/11. Since we can submit as many qualified nominees as we want via our Qualifying Articles, we will not wait until 11/28/11 to start posting articles about nominees that meet all the criteria listed above (see the Make Sure paragraph).
