Animals Behind the 8-Ball is the formulated cause by The Rack Starz. By partnering with AmsterDog Rescue, The Rack Starz hope to raise enough money and awareness for the volunteers at the AmsterDog Rescue to help protect and save abused helpless animals that need the help.
The Rack Starz are not only busy establishing this event, they have also published their 2012-2013 Limited Edition Collector Series 18-Month Calendars. They are even donating 500 of these beautiful calendars to get the “ball” rolling for the Animals Behind the 8-Ball cause. For each calendar purchased, $10 will be given directly to the AmsterDog Rescue.
The calendar is a glossy full-color, 12” wide by 17” high number. It sells for $25 plus shipping. The calendar credits go to: Art Direction & Photography goes to Larry Busacca; Design goes to Chris Galardi and Will Thresher; Digital Imaging Specialist goes to Ben Peterson. You can purchase this great calendar on http://www.therackstarz.com/store.htm.
If you would like to purchase one of these calendars and have a donation be given to a wonderful animal that is in need, make sure that you write “Amsterdog” in the special instructions message box when you are ready to check out and The Rack Starz will realize that you are choosing to help an animal in need. In addition, The Rack Starz is also developing a one-of-a-kind charity event to be scheduled in 2012. At this event, the public will be invited to meet and greet the ladies associated with The Rack Starz and obtain personal autographs on your calendars.
AmsterDog Rescue was started by a group of volunteers after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. These extraordinary people did fundraising and even went to New Orleans to bring rescued dogs back and then helped them locate their forever homes.
Their hearts were in the right place trying to help rescue dogs in the south but then they realized that there were so many wonderfully sweet adoptable dogs (and cats) in Chicago’s Shelters. AmsterDog Rescue was formed in May of 2010 as a small rescue effort and was named after Amsterdam. Amsterdam is a big white 70-pound Pit Bull mix who was found wandering around the streets of Harlem on Amsterdam Avenue. Amsterdam was so scary looking that many people would avoid even walking on the same side of the street as he was on. The fact is, Amsterdam is a cuddly mushy-type dog that loves his belly rubbed. He is the first of the rescues and is living proof that rescues are worth the effort. Many times rescued animals actually do the rescuing!
The Rack Starz was developed by a group of intelligent and sexy women from all over the world that have a goal in common; playing pool. They want to bring this game of billiards into the limelight and let it shine.
The women that formed this group are moms, athletes, models, actresses, nutritionists, CEOs, marketing analysts, educated women with advanced degrees. These women are not only diverse in background; they are also representative of a multitude of cultures speaking more than 15 languages. They are true ambassadors not only to pool, but to the animals they are now helping!
These women want to show to the world their insatiable desire for the game. They approach the game of billiards in a positive enjoyable fashion even though their approach is “Shoot to Thrill, Play to Kill!” Their home base is New York. The group was founded by Robert Moore, Larry Busacca, Gail Glazebrook and Jennifer Barretta.
