Anonymous hacktivists are waging war on cops involved in the violent suppression of the Occupy Wall Street movement. By releasing the private information of rogue cops guilty of abuse and brutality, Anonymous hopes to hold those sworn to protect and serve accountable for their actions.
Tuesday, a video was released by those claiming to represent the Anonymous collective. The video is a response to the sadistic horror at Occupy UC Davis last Friday when UC Davis Campus Police Lieutenant John Pike casually assaulted passive and peaceful student protesters with pepper spray.
The video refers to Lt. Pike as a “coward” and a “bully,” as a “tool” and a “puppet” “hiding behind a badge”
The video makes public Lt. Pike’s personal contact information – including his cell phone number, email and an alleged home address, encouraging people to contact him and express their displeasure with his actions.
The following is an excerpt from that video:
Greetings police forces of the world. We are Anonymous.
Since the beginning of the Occupy movement we have watched as police violence toward the otherwise peaceful protestors has steadily increased. Your brutalization of our citizens is both unjust and uncalled for. Your raids on our encampments and the illegal actions of corrupt officers within your ranks will no longer go unpunished.
Any officer found to be guilty of these crimes against peaceful protestors will be doxed and have their personal information released to the public. It is time you take a dose of your own medicine and stop hiding behind your badge.
U. C. Davis Campus Police, Lieutenant John Pike.
Records Unit Manager
You pepper sprayed a crowd of peaceful students sitting on the ground. You are a coward, and a bully.
A tool of the corrupt.
A puppet for your masters.
Citizens of the world,
Flood his phones, email and mailbox to voice your anger.
Flood the campus of U.C. Davis.
Flood the streets of the world and stand up for your rights, and against injustice.
We are Anonymous.
We Are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Lt. Pike is not the first cop doxed by Anonymous for Occupy Wall Street related offenses. Monday, Cabin Cr3w, a faction of the international Internet hacktivist collective known as Anonymous, released private personal information belonging to PERF members, staff and Board of Directors.
PERF is the Police Executive Research Forum, a private, influential, national non-governmental organization with close ties to law enforcement agencies across the country, as well as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The group allegedly orchestrated and coordinated the sometimes brutal police crack down on Occupy Wall Street, and other Occupy movements across the country.
Sunday Anonymous hacktivists assaulted PERF because of their alleged involvement in coordinating police crackdowns on Occupy protests across the country, taking down their website and releasing the private informationof Sherwin B. “Chuck” Wexler – Executive Director at PERF.
