Anti-Kardashian petition growing
Kim Kardashian and the rest of the Kardashian clan have apparently worn out their welcome. After the recent news of Kim’s split with Kris Humphries after only 72 days of wedded bliss, the reality star is on the receiving end of many speculating that the wedding was nothing but a sham and a publicity stunt. Now a petition posted on GoPetition.com wants E! to remove “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” from their schedule and continues to grow and has at this point gained over 158,000 signatures.
- ‘Breaking Dawn’: The good and the bad
- ‘The Hunger Games’ trailer enthralling and bizarre
- Michael Jackson autopsy photos – Warning: Graphic
According to the New York Post, the writer of the petition, Cyndy Snider, had this to say about the Kardashians:
“We feel these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption. While some may have begun watching the spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a sort of ‘reality satire,’ it is a sad truth that many young people are looking up to this family.”
There has been much controversy over the Kardashian family as a whole, with repeated complaints of being talentless, entitled and self-absorbed thrown at sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. The Kardashian-Humphries wedding seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back in the eyes’ of the viewing public.
Will E! cancel the Kardashians’ shows?
Is E! likely to comply with the online petition to boot the Kardashians off the network? Not likely. No doubt the hope is that viewers will tune in to the new season of “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” to see clips of Kim and Kris’ short marriage and what led to the quick divorce filing by Kim, of which Humphries has said he was blindsided by.
Really, what good reason would E! have for pulling them off the air? All things Kardashian, including “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “Khloe and Lamar,” have been big moneymakers for the network, especially that 4-hour “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding” special. As we all know, if viewers are still tuning in, that petition doesn’t stand a chance. Besides, if you don’t want to watch it, turn the channel: there are hundreds of other channels showing hundreds of other choices for your viewing pleasure.
“Kourtney and Kim Take New York” premieres on E! on November 27th on Houston Comcast channel 44.
