The three cleansing cloths to be reviewed in this article are (1) the VIC Face and Body Cloth that is distributed by a company from Maryland. This cloth is 100% cotton and comes in white with assorted colored trim (blue, pink, yellow, coral, lavender or green). It is a light weight, quick drying cloth recommended for both the face and body.
I used this cloth for several days and found that it was too abrasive for my face but excellent for helping to exfoliate dead skin cells and debris from the body. I use a Retin-A product on my face and it was just a bit too rough for my face.
The history of this cloth goes back to WWII when it was introduced by a British Company who began manufacturing mourning crepe or “widows’ seeds” in the early 19th Century. As the years passed the company became a world leader in the manufacture of bandages and wraps. They made not only bandages but parachutes during the two World Wars.
In 1957 an American woman living in London discovered the VIC Face and Body Cloth and upon her return to the States began sharing the unique cloth to her friends and persuading businesses to try this cloth in their stores. VIC Face and Body Cloth is sold in the United States and you may obtain information from their website: www.vicfaceandbodycloth.com.
The second cloth is a (2) Microfiber Washcloth purchased from Simply Good Stuff. For information on this cloth including pricing, check their website, www.simplygoodstuff.com. This was a nice, soft washcloth. I gave it to two other people to try and we agree that it is a nice, soft washcloth but did not see any therapeutic value for exfoliating the skin or making the skin softer.
In my travels and I wish I could remember where I bought it, I bought an (3) inexpensive, microfiber mitt that is wonderful. It sloughs off dead skin and makes the skin smooth with or without cleansing product. I have looked at all my regular places such as Target, CVS, Walgreens, Big Lots and Walmart and I just can not find it. If you come across a microfiber mitt, buy it and try it. It works the best for the face. It is only about 3″ x 5″ and just fits over your fingers. Great product. Wish I could tell you where to find it. If you find it, email me at Lynn-Atlanta@Juno.com. I would love to buy more.
As we age, cell turnover is reduced making exfoliating necessary to keep a fresh, glowing look. Products such as Retin-A, Hydroqinone, and other Retinoid products are excellent for exfoliating. Chemical peels, peels used in a facial, microdermabrasion and lasers are mechanical ways of exfoliating. Check with a licensed esthetician, your dermatologist or plastic surgeon for products or therapies that would benefit your skin. They will be able to diagnosis your skin type and offer the best recommendations to give you the best products and procedures to keep you looking young and glowing.
