A Daily Word from The Word for Friday, December 30, 2011
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. –Romans 12:2
How has conforming to the pattern of this world been working for you? I am not talking about the “external” surroundings; but I am talking about internally. How do you feel inside yourself each day? Do you feel like something is missing? Are peace, joy, and happiness fleeting moments that you constantly have to chase, and catch only for a moment, before circumstances whisk them away? Is the outside pressure of the world about to squeeze the last breath out of you? If find yourself answering yes to these questions, have I got good news for you! You just need to change your conformity!
Guess what? God did not make you for this world! We are to be in the world but not of the world! It is too easy, while being in the world, to get caught up in the things of this world; thus becoming of the world. It doesn’t fit who we were created to be and causes our internal wiring to go haywire! Our citizenship is with the Kingdom of God, and there is no dual citizenship.
The word “conform” is from the Greek word “suschematizo” (soos-khay-mat-id-zo) which means “to fashion alike, conform to the same pattern, fashion self according to external conditions” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). When a tailor is making a piece of clothing, they use a pattern in which to trace the design, so the clothing created is conformed to a pattern. Is the clothing you are wearing conformed to the pattern of this world, or are you wearing kingdom clothing, fashioned after the pattern of Heaven?
The Greek word for “renewing” as used here is “anakainosis” (an-ah-ee-no-sis) meaning “to renovate, to restore” (Strong’s). The word of God tells us to renovate our minds; thus re-conforming us to the pattern of God’s Kingdom. How do we accomplish this restoration project? By the Word of God. By developing a daily habit of reading God’s Word, studying God’s Word, meditating on God’s Word, and memorizing His Word, you are allowing the Word to do the necessary renovation work within you! When you renovate, you are actually restoring something to its original state by stripping it down, by stripping everything that wasn’t part of its original structure off. You then reapply the original finish to bring that thing back to life the way it was originally intended!
Are you ready for some mind renovation and restoration? No home improvement store this time. We need to make a trip to the Word! Let’s get started today!
Father, I thank you for your Word, which is instruction and medicine to our bodies, soul, and spirit! Thank you for your restoration power, which we call on you to perform this day. Father, you are our God of Restoration, and we call upon you to do a new thing in us this day that we are no longer conformed to the world; but we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, which is the Mind of Christ. Holy Spirit come! Move in us and upon us in a new way. We give you permission this day to renew us, to transform us. In Jesus Name, we pray and we call it done! Amen and Amen
Take Action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to allow God’s Holy Spirit to renew your mind every day. Choose to seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness (Matthew 6:33) by reading and studying the Bible, and letting the Word of God settle within you, doing a new thing. Every day, determine in your mind and purpose in your heart, that you are a kingdom citizen on a temporary VISA here in the world- and not the other way around. Thank God daily for doing a new work in you. And above all, brethren, continue to fight the good fight! For God has already given you the victory!
May God Bless you and Keep you always.
With warmest regards,
And In Service of The Most High King,
