Thanksgiving is all about bringing the family together and usually it involves a hefty size meal to enjoy each others company with. Well two families have added the Bend Turkey Trot to their day of celebration and just because their kids are young enough to ride in strollers doesn’t mean the whole family can’t enjoy it together.
Ann Clemens ran the 5K today while pushing her daughter Zola in the stroller. She hardly seemed phased and that wasn’t even the most astonishing part. She just gave birth only 4 weeks ago! A long time runner she averages 5 to 7 miles on her runs. She really enjoys running along with her daughter and would like to see more stroller friendly activities in Bend, even for people without kids. She likes the idea of a workout with the stroller and weights can be added to the ones without kids.
Ann’s brother, Kevin Clemens, also ran the Turkey Trot along with his daughter in the stroller. Meriwether definitely enjoyed the ride as her dad was one of the top finishers of the 10k. He trains with his daughter in the stroller about half the time, he said His favorite part of today’s race was having everyone together for the Thanksgiving holiday.
If you didn’t make the Bend Turkey Trot this year be sure to add it to next year’s family activities on Thanksgiving. It’s a great calorie burn along with fun family memories.
