Today is the first day of the Blood & Thunder Roller Derby World Cup and the Charter 20 for Team USA has been announced. One of those ladies is number 25 of the Windy City Rollers jammer, Varla Vendetta. Varla Vendetta and her team came to the Cincinnati Gardens back on June 4th and gave Cincinnati quite a headache defeating them 178-83.
These women have realized the absolute and eternal pride of donning the stars and stripes to represent their country. Looking down and seeing the red white and blue of their uniforms should be a very proud moment, each of these athletes represents the very best in the world.

Group play begins today at 5:00 P.M with Canada taking on France. Team USA begins their trek for the gold today at 6:50 P.M. against New Zealand. Group play will conclude Friday evening at which time the seedings will be set for the elimination round. At the end of today, a special intra-squad scrimmage will be played by Team USA. Everyone in attendance should bring a notebook and a camera, this is the cream of the roller derby crop a “must not miss” moment for anyone who loves derby.
