Recently I had a Groupon for @Cafe, so headed down to Tarpon Springs with a girlfriend. It is on Alternate 19, or Pinellas Avenue, which is the main road going through Tarpon Springs. There was parking to the side, but not a lot, and it was difficult to turn in the small area.
I paid $10 for $20 of food and drink.
We went inside the small cafe, and headed for the serving counter. I presented my coupon, and we were asked which of the coffees we would like. We each went for a caramel latte. For our sandwich we both chose a toasted croissant, with deli meats, and cheese. Our dessert was to be split, and it was a Vaffle, and yes that is how it is spelled. It came with cream, and a choice of one sauce.
There were a few tables inside, but we decided to sit at a table, the opposite side of the parking lot. Our coffees came out quickly. They were hot and delicious. These were proper cups and saucers.
When our croissants came, they were in paper pockets, which we tore, and ate them with the paper around them. We really enjoyed the sandwich, but would have loved a real plate.
Finally out dessert. The Vaffle was a little on the stodgy side. It had 4 heaps of cream, and the sauce drizzled over it. We used a plastic knife, to cut it, on a plastic plate. Both of us left some of our half of the dessert.
When we went back inside, the Groupon had taken care of the check, and so I left a tip.
When I want a treat with a girlfriend, I am disappointed when I don’t have real plates, and silverware. This was an okay lunch, and for $10 we were reasonably happy. Will I go back? Probably not.
