A cold and chilly airmass will be ushered into the region during the daytime hours today with the passage of a strong, arctic cold front tied to an area of low pressure that was approaching the St Lawrence Seaway early this morning. The difference in pressure between this departing system and strong area of Canadian high pressure building in to the region slowly during the afternoon hours will bring strong, blustery winds to the region through the day today.
The cold air will also be gusting over the open waters of lakes Erie and Ontario, providing the impetus for lake effect snow showers across the usually favored areas. There is the possibility of a flurry or stray show shower across the region through the day as more significant snowfalls look to remain north and west of the area.
A chilly day will be on tap for Thursday before another fast moving clipper type system approaches on Friday and passes through by Saturday bringing another quick warm up, complete with rain and/or snow showers, followed by a return to winter’s chill just in time to usher in 2012.
