–Gina Carano is off the December Strikeforce show with little explanation. Carano has not fought since she had her ass handed to her by Cris Cyborg. A previous fight was canceled due to a mysterious health issue that was never disclosed and this will not help her career.
–Carlos Condit is saying through his camp that he did not willingly give up his title shot with GSP in favor of Nick Diaz noting that “contrary to what has been stated, Carlos did not step aside to allow this to happen.” UFC President Dana White told media that Condit had agreed to let the fight happen. The manager for Condit said no option was given to him though…
–Anderson Silva could take a moment to learn how to build a fight by listening to GSP who said of Nick Diaz, “he is the most disrespectful human being I’ve ever met and I’m going to put the worst beating you’ve ever seen on him in the UFC.” Nothing like “oh Chael Sonnen cannot stipulate where we find and the terms.”
–BJ Penn retired after his beating at the hands of Diaz only to have second thoughts almost as soon as he said his career was over.
–Paul Taylor was involved in a minor car accident where he suffered whiplash and as a result he will not fight Anthony Njokuani at UFC 138. You can watch the show this weekend on Spike with Chris Leben v Mark Munoz in the main event of a nondescript card.
–Ed Soares, the manager of Anderson Silva went on record earlier this year saying Silva only had three or four fights left in him. Silva went on the attack and said he wants to fight for six or seven more years which, at 37 years old, is unlikely even with his skill set.
–With this most recent injury to GSP many are starting to wonder just what his shelf life is in MMA and whether or not he may be cycling steroids. A torn abductor muscle and now and MCL injury are leading many to believe that the Canadian superhero might just not be as super as everyone thinks. First reports were of a knee injury that forced GSP to pull out of his fight with Diaz but were later reported as a MCL strain when questions were being raised about his willingness to fight Diaz.
–Donald Cerrone will do battle with Nate Diaz at UFC 141 which should be a great fight if Cerrone shows up.
–Anderson Silva will wave the green flag for the NASCAR race in Phoenix on November 13.
–A fight to watch on the undercard of the Brock Lesnar v. Alistair Overeem show is Alexander Gustafsson v. Vladimir Matyushenko.
–Speaking of Lesnar, word is he is in great shape and feeling invincible again so the Overeem fight has the potential to be the fight of the year.
–Mirko Cro Cop has decided to retire coming off his loss to Roy Nelson.
–Dana White said the UFC is not a monopoly and alluded to Viacom putting money into Bellator but honestly, who is he kidding? Even though Bellator is reluctantly in the number two position pretty much by default, there really is no one who can even come close to the UFC.
–There is a possibility of the UFC putting on a show in Hawaii sometime next year.
–Still more proof that the UFC is a monopoly, Dana White has thrust himself into the negotiations between Showtime and Strikeforce hoping to still work out a deal.
–The prelim fights on Spike drew a horrid rating of 0.8 or just over a million viewers and that does not bode well for PPV buys though the replay may spike after the beating BJ Penn took.
–The much anticipated “Fear Factor” redux will debut on NBC on December 12 starring Joe Rogan.
–Chris Lytle is gaining momentum in his bid for Indiana State Senate and friends in my hometown of Indianapolis say he has a very good chance of winning.
