The heavy metal band Carnifex will be playing with Born of Osiris at the Lost Horizon on the corner of Erie Boulevard asnfd Thompson Road in Syracuse on Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The price is cheap, only 15 dollars. These two metal acts are well-established and provide a new-school progressive metal experience deserving of their names. This venue will also feature Betraying the Martyrs, Structures, Chains of Honor, and Veil of Maya.
Carnifex is proudly tearing down rock venues with their new October 2011 release “Untill I Feel Nothing.” Carnifex is a five-piece metal band who’s name sounds like it is a made up word, however, the name itself comes from the Old English word meaning “executioner.” Carnifex has been playing death metal apparently influenced by the dark ages since 2005. They are currently in the midst of promoting their fourth full-length album and enjoying every second of it. Carnifex is Fred Calderon on bass, Shawn Cameron on drums, Ryan Gudmunds and Cory Arford on guitars, and Scott Lewis on vocals rounding out the line-up and ready to damage your eardrums on November 29th at the Lost.
Coming along for the ride will be Born of Osiris. Born of Osiris is a six-piece metal group out of Palestine, Illinois. With their Ancient Egyptian influenced lyrical content comparable to that of the band Nile, Born of Osiris is not just another progressive death metal band obsessed with ancient Egypt. Their brand of heavy, heavy technical metal is sure to fill the Lost Horizon with moshers and death metal afficianados alike. The band has been compared to Syracuse area favorites such as Job for a Cowboy and Despised Icon. Born of Osiris has been rocking the metal scene since 2007, however, they have experience streching back to 2003 under such aliases as “Diminished” and “Rosecrance.” (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Born_of_Osiris/107097)
Regardless of the name, Born of Osiris should be well worth the 15 dollar price tag on November 29th because they just came out with a new album called “The Discovery” last March and they are embarking on a U.S. tour stretching from here to Louisiana, and this may be your only chance this year to catch them so close to home. So bring your punk-rock friends and come discover why Born of Osiris and Carnifex have earned their spot on the top of the metal heap. It’s all going down at 7:00pm on November 29, 2011 at the Lost Horizon in Syracuse.
