Chris Matthews proves almost every day that he is perhaps one of the most hate-filled creatures on cable news.
On Wednesday, the MSNBC host went on a tear against GOP candidate Newt Gingrich, proclaiming the former House Speaker is not even a human being.
“He’s not a human being, he’s a gaseous state. Isn’t he? I mean Joan, this is like a gaseous state around the world. I mean, this is Newtism,” Matthews said.
Newsbusters’ Noel Sheppard writes that Matthews made his ridiculous claim “in the middle of a twelve minute opening smear job of the former House Speaker.”
Before making the statement, Matthews played a clip of Gingrich discussing the issue of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae:
What you have today is that the rich in Wall Street and the powerful at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had so many politicians beholding to them that in fact nobody was going to check them. And so they got away with things that were absolute baloney. It’s a tragedy.
He’s a gaseous state around the world? A Newtism?
And this is what qualifies as reporting on MSNBC today.
Who better to add some balance to Matthews’ attacks than the perilously liberal David Corn and Joan Walsh?
This outfit doesn’t even try to pretend it’s a news network anymore.
MSNBC, despite its claim to be a news network, is little more than the home of modern liberal hate.
In Sept 2010, a Florida man was sentenced to 27 months in prison for threatening a member of Congress. His explanation? He watched too much MSNBC.
This is not the first time Matthews has attacked Gingrich.
In June, he literally demonized the former speaker when he claimed Gingrich is “evil” and “looks like the devil.”
In October, Matthews went ballistic, calling Gingrich “demonic.”
Earlier in the year, he fumed that the former Speaker looks like a “car bomber” who loves torturing.”
In May, he attacked Gingrich as the “evil Joker” while calling Obama “our hero.”
Of course, Matthews is entitled to his opinion, but his attacks are frequently over-the-top and dripping with insane hatred.
His attacks on Michele Bachmann were so vicious that Jehmu Green, a liberal women’s advocate, called him “a bully” who’s “favorite target is women.”
It’s enough to make one wonder: Is MSNBC good for America?
