Thursday, December 29 is dollar day at Goodwill. This is one of Columbia thrifty fashion shoppers’ favorite haunts and favorite days. Goodwill Industries International of Columbia has a half price savings corner filled with racks most days and one dollar racks on Thursdays and Fridays. There are many Goodwill thrift stores in Columbia. Just enter your zip code to in the box where it says, “Find Your Local Goodwills.”
The one dollar racks are crammed with tanks, tops, knits, tees, beaded tops, sweaters, suits, skirts, dresses, jeans, trousers, skirt and pant suits and much more. This week there are some nice pieces of negligee and formals, and a rack of really nice black leather jackets and a few faux furs that look good as new for men and women. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two, and hidden treasures are sure to show up. It wouldn’t be surprising if you met people you know there taking advantage of the bargains too. The sale racks usually drop to fifty cents on Sunday for even greater holiday Goodwill savings.
The dollar racks can also help thrifty fashion shoppers earn a littleextra money by purchasing name brand clothing in mint condition, such as Tommy Hilfiger and Lauren jeans, Ralph Ann Taylor Loft and Cato tops, and Coldwater Creek casuals and reselling them on eBay or at your local consignment shop for much more than you paid. Some items are actually donated brand new and have store price tags attached. These are perfectly good for gifting during the holidays and throughout the year.
The Goodwill on Two Notch Road was has a nice selection of sleepwear and jeans, including Bill Blass, Land’s End, Tommy Hilfiger and Lauren Jeans Co There is a large selection of handbags, including a few Vera Bradley and Worthington styles and a bin of new and “like new” plush animals for the little ones, many with tags attached.
The Goodwill on Decker Boulevard has a huge selection of trendy winter and holiday fashions, with racks and racks of sweaters (sorted by size and color), warm jackets and coats, blazers and suits, dresses, and some very nice handbags, shoes, and glittery accessories and jewelry. The handbag and shoe displays are especially attractive and offer a tremendous selection.
