Walking the Christian path is a difficult task in the current American society. There are so many things that can take one’s eyes off of God. Corruption occurs through the things on television and the things that can be accessed through the internet. What Christians need is to have child like faith. Children are fascinated by things that adults overlook. Children can see the work of God that adults have long since written off as part of life, a tree swaying in the wind, a lizard lying on a front porch, or a sunrise that God made just for them. A child can be taught by their parents that God created everything and simply believe. There is no cynicism, no sarcastic retorts, they simply believe. Jesus tells believers in Luke 18: 16-17 (ESV) “16 But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 17 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
While Christians come from all different walks of life and may or may not have been raised in Christian homes or by Christian parents, they have been told by their heavenly father, through His holy word (The Bible) the way that they are to live their lives. If only Christians could have faith like a child and focus solely on God’s guidance, ignoring the corrupting influences of modern society and paying attention to all the small gifts that God gives us on a daily basis, what a joyful life they would experience.
