Talk about fancy! Sidney in East Berlin is a top notch place to go if you want to be surrounded by food that is impeccable in both taste and presentation.
Sidney has a few rooms where you can enjoy your eats, but let’s talk about the sweetness that is their tavern. With special fare just for the Tavern, this is an ideal place to eat if you still want that high-end delicious food, but don’t necessarily want to shell out for those high-end prices. Give the Beef Sirloin Shish Kebabs a try if you get as jazzed as this Examiner does about food on a stick. These succulent kebabs are served with a helping of yummy Basmatt rice pilaf and cool Tzatziki sauce for dipping. This scrumptious deal will run you just $14, so you can go ahead and save room for dessert! Pulled pork is more cause for joyous claps and cheers and the Pulled Pork sammy at Sidney is no different. Rich, juicy pork is piled high on this baby and gets topped with Vermont cheddar cheese. On the side of this comes a bit of Pepper Slaw and their homemade chips. If you have never had homemade chips, please do try them as they are fabulously different than the ones from the bag…especially when you can get them while they’re still warm! All this jazz is just $11. The Charred Calamari with Tomato Fondue, Polenta, and Cantal cheese is a winner if you want something creative and utterly divine. Creamy, cheesy, tantalizing, and something you really should give a go, are pretty much all that needs to be said about this beaut. Still at that Tavern price, this too, costs just $11. Nice!
Save room for dessert, lovers
Hope you still have room for dessert after all that crazy good Tavern fare! Titled the ‘Chef’s Warm, Cool, and Arctic Cappuccino’, this is the perfect way to end your meal. It will soothe your soul, enliven your taste buds, and remind you why cappuccinos are magical. Oh, this pairs up with a chocolatey brownie of joy too. Yeah, it is the bomb! Indulge in something famously classic from France with the Classic Creme Brulee. Sweet and decadent, you are free (and encouraged) to pretend that you are on holiday in France! Warm pears and almonds meet cold, creamy vanilla bean ice cream in this next one. The Warm Pear and Almond Crumble Tartlette comes with vanilla bean ice cream to create a stunning dessert combination. Top this off with a charmingly spiced red wine sauce and oh great goodness! If this doesn’t make you happy, sorry, but most nothing will! Go for something a little more unconventional and try the Chocolate Bread Pudding, which comes served with Maple Bacon ice cream. This combination isn’t for everyone though, so be sure you can handle the traditionally breakfast flavors of maple and bacon in ice cream form (and not at breakfast time) before you give this one a whirl.
Your meal at Sidney will probably make you feel like royalty, so make sure you are fully prepared to accept such treatment while dining!
