It’s time for the first “Family Science Night” of 2012 at the John McConnell Math & Science Center.
This Thursday enter the world of geology and discover why science rocks! Learn all about some of Mother Nature’s greatest treasures, gemstones, minerals and even fossils ( many of which can be found right here in the Grand Valley!)
The Math and Science Center is the brainchild of John McConnell a retired physicist who moved to Grand Junction in 1990 and became a educator and mentor for the kids here in western Colorado. His goal was to bring more math and science to local schools. He put together a mobile lab in the trunk of his car complete with hands on experiments and interactive presentations and began sharing them with our kids and their teachers. When his lab outgrew his car he opened the Center and now hosts over 160 exhibits.
They offer camps, school field trips and even host birthday parties. This is a great family event that shows people of all ages that math and science can be fun. Thank you John McConnell your staff and volunteers for sharing this exceptional resource with the Grand Valley.
