The usual this-month-only specials are in effect, overshadowed as they may be by Velasco Thorsson, interocean routes and team competitions. Though there’s not much time left in December, you can still earn your December 2011 Seal o’ Piracy and buy the limited edition ship that’s on offer. Here are the details:
December 2011 Seal o’ Piracy
Earn your badge this month by participating in 3 Brigand King melees at sea. Win or lose, each time you cross swords or exchange fisticuffs with a Brigand King’s entourage, you earn a point of your three.
Note, however, that these must be pillaging-type battles on the open sea. Rumbling with Vargas the Mad in a Cursed Isles expedition doesn’t count, nor does sword-fighting with Barnabas the Pale atop a ship graveyard in the Haunted Seas. You must engage a Brigand King in one-on-one sea battle and then reach the melee stage in order to earn your Seal.
As always, you have until the stroke of midnight that rings an end to December 2011.

In the hold, a busy bakery produces gingerbread pirates by the score — the sort you eat, alas, not the sort that come to life and swell the ranks of your crew.
The Gingerbread Class Sloop may be purchased in any participating shipyard until 3:00 PM PDT on New Year’s Day. If you still need to save up funds to buy one, see the first half of this article. In addition to helping you earn your seal when you fight them, Brigand Kings tend to carry a great deal of booty…
