The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee passed the Harriet Tubman National Historical Parks Act (S.247), which now must go to the Senate floor. But first the committee must officially report the bill so the full Senate probably won’t take it up till next year.
The bill would create the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park as a unit of the National Park System in three counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (Caroline, Dorchester and Talbot).
It would also create the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in Auburn, New York.
No companion legislation is in the House.
