Ice! starts on Wednesday, November 16, at the Gaylord Palms resort, and this year it has an all-new theme: Shrek the Halls, based on the popular Christmas special of the same name. You literally walk through an ice-sculpture version of the story, featuring Shrek and his friends in full color, all carved out of ice.
Click the slideshow at left for a few scenes to tantilize you if you’re thinking about going to Ice! this year. I highly recommend it, both if you are a fan of the event itself and a lover of Dreamworks movies. You’ll meet Shrek himself, along with Fiona, Puss in Boots, Gingy, Po the Panda (who stars in the Snow experience), and several Madagascar friends.
Ice! is a great event for all ages. Adults appreciate the skill it takes to sculpt the figures, while kids (and kids at heart) love the Dreamworks/Shrek tie-in. For the purists, the “crystal” nativity still caps the exhibit.
I’ll be posting more photos and video from Ice! soon, but in the meantime the eight-photo sampler at left should get you excited about the exhibit, which runs through January 2.
