As ICSE Exam 2012 is round the corner, and most of my articles will be concentrating on tips and advice to the candidates taking up the exam, this write up is going to focus on how the weak and the special need students can prepare themselves for this exam that they will be taking up in the month of March 2012.
Since the vacations are going on and children have enough time to prepare themselves for the exam, here are some useful ways in which the weak students can gear up and utilize this time span to prepare themselves for the Mock or Model Exam which some schools might take place up in the month of January 2012 as well as the ICSE 2012 Exam.
Ø Firstly the students must have confidence within themselves and they must believe in the fact that this public exam is just a recall of whatever they have already learnt and revised in school. In other words they should so away with any kind of inhibition if they hold any.
Ø Secondly the students must have a set of ICSE Test Papers which is mandatory as it serves as a guide for the students to understand the pattern of the questions. They must skim and scan through these papers of each and every subject to find out and comprehend the questions that they might be facing difficulty in.
Ø Thirdly the students need to constantly do a brainstorming of the important points of the lessons that they might be facing difficulties in. It is always better to keep separate copies for each of the subjects so that when the child is taking up a particular subject, he might jot down the essential points in that particular copy. Constant brainstorming will help the child to remember the difficult points.
Ø Fourthly the students must go through the questions of those chapters with which they are not that confident; from the test papers so that they can be thorough with the correct answers.
Ø Fifthly testing oneself in another way to prepare for the exam. The student might test himself by setting a few questions from the test papers. He may write out the answers in point form and check from the text whether the answers are correct. This method not only helps the child to rectify his errors but also will help him to boast up his level of confidence.
Ø Avoid taking too many subjects at one time as it might confuse the student. Divide the time span for preparation in a useful way. Try to cover at least four subjects in a day…….two in the morning and two in the evening. Heavy and difficult subjects can be prepared during the mornings while evenings can be dedicated to light subjects. One hour at night before going to bed can be allotted for practicing Maths and English Language exercises, as it is the best time to help oneself with some written work.
Ø Finally shed all fear and avoid any negative vibe reaching you as it might dampen your confidence level. Always think positive and try to take parents and teachers into confidence if constant exam fear troubles you. Just relax and keep your mind at ease so that the body and the mind works together to bring home to you success and colourful results through your performance in this ICSE 2012 Exam.
