On Christmas Day in 2011, many wonder what stores are open and closed on Dec. 25. Walmart, Kmart, Toys R Us, Best Buy, and Sears shoppers are looking for last minute holiday deals. As kids use NORAD’s Santa Tracker to chart St. Nicholas’ journey, others look for steals and specials.
Like the 100 year old Santa letter, people today are looking for something under the Xmas tree from Claus himself. Others are bracing for the Christmas NBA opening games to begin.
Still, there are last minute shoppers who are in search of that special gift. Sadly, there are very few options for you, as retailers take a break from the cha-ching at the register to give their workers a break to be with family. Here’s a breakdown of Christmas Day 2011 openings and closings.
Stores Open on Christmas Day (Dec. 25)
Walgreens Pharmacy: It’s not all about drugs, prescriptions, and something for the munchies. The national chain has a large selection of quick gifts like toys, small appliances, music, books, perfume, cologne, and more. Store and select pharmacy hours on Dec. 25: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (local time). Find a store near you.
CVS Pharmacy: Like Walgreens, the chain is open, and has many similar items that make ideal Christmas gifts for the last minute shopper. Also, the chain has online deals at 40% off stocking stuffers and brand merchandise. Call for store hours. Find a store near you.
7-11: Don’t just think about Slurpees, hot dogs, lottery tickets, and Red Bulls. The chain has some small last minute gifts on Christmas Day. There are also gift cards available for gaming like Zynga, music on iTunes, Groupon gift cards, and more. Some stores have limited hours. Find a 7-11 near you.
Stores Closed on Christmas Day (Dec. 25, 2011)
If you’re looking for a John Deere tractor at Home Depot, an Apple Mac Book Pro from Walmart, a Craftsman tool box from Sears, a hot Sofia Vergara dress from Kmart, or a nice cardigan from Target, forget about it; they’re all closed. But think about the After Christmas sales that are similar to Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
While these big-box stores are closed on Christmas Day, you can still shop online. You’ll just have to wait a little while longer. But, it’s better late than never, right? Happy Holidays!
