Nashville, TN (November 3, 2011) – Pastor, recording artist & songwriter, Wess Morgan, celebrates his first ever Stellar Award nomination for the popular hit song, “I Choose To Worship” in the Song of the Year category.
Written by Morgan, “I Choose To Worship” has been climbing the gospel radio charts in recent weeks and is a deeply personal song that speaks to his connection to God through worship. This nomination marks a big milestone for Morgan as both an artist and songwriter.
His sophomore project, UNDER AN OPEN HEAVEN, featuring the Celebration of Life choir, was released in late 2010 and has received tremendous attention. Released under his label Bowtie World Music, Morgan has featured the Stellar-nominated single, “I Choose To Worship,” on several national platforms, including The Mo’Nique Show, TBN and BET.
“I Choose To Worship” made such an impact it remained on the Billboard Radio chart for 57 weeks and peaked at the Number 4 slot.
“I’m very excited and humbled by the fact that this song has been nominated for a Stellar for Song of the Year,” said Morgan. “I’m especially excited considering the fact that when I wrote the song, I wrote it for me, I didn’t write it to be a smash hit. The song was simply me speaking the sentiments of my heart as I was going through my process. It amazes me that it has connected with so many people across the country and lets me know that we realize that worship is a choice, not a feeling.”
Morgan is becoming increasingly popular for his ability to sing soulful melodies over lyrics that yield life building messages along with his unique ability to share God’s word alongside his personal testimony. Both the music and spoken word coming from Wess Morgan connects with the hearts of people.
Morgan is the Senior Worship Leader & Associate Pastor at Celebration of Life Church. He is also the founder and director of the Wess Morgan Foundation, an organization whose focus is drug and alcohol prevention and recovery. The foundation is currently focused on helping youth in urban communities within Hendersonville and Gallatin, Tennessee on an ongoing basis through faith-based and educational programs.
The 27th Annual Stellar Awards, gospel music’s biggest night, will be held January 14, 2012 in Nashville, and is set to air in national syndication from January 21-February 26 2012 on The Gospel Music Channel and local markets around the country.
Morgan also recently taped a Christmas special for TBN to air during the Holidays featuring acclaimed actress Kim Fields.
