Lexington vampire fans.. we have a new vampire author that you are going to LOVE!!!
Nathan Squires is a new and upcoming author in the vampires world. Nathan is a very talented writer who puts his emotions and his experiences into his writing. He is the author of Death Metal and Crimson Shadow as well as a comic book entitled, Night Tide: Chronicles of a Vampire Vigilante- both coming soon to Lexington.
Each of his stories have a very strong mythos and weaving of the real world and his world. This is what Nathan says about his writing technique:
I pride myself as a “visual” writer–that is to say that I can’t write something that I can’t “watch” in my head as if on a movie/television screen. For this reason I tend to prefer third person POV; omniscence of such a piece is determined by its nature & story-telling components. For example, Death Metal, also third-person POV is written in four parts–“Chords & Chaos” follows either one of the two guitarists in the band and allows readers to “see” their thoughts but not the thoughts of the rest of the band; “Beats & Bedlam” follows either the bassist or the drummer; “Melodies & Mayhem” follows the lead singer; and “Battle of the Bands”–serving as the point when the band truly unites–allows the reader to see into the minds of all five when relevant.
We will be focusing the next two articles on his paranromal writings – Crimson Shadow and Night Tide.
But, for now I leave you with a little more about the author:
- Nathan Squiers, a resident of upstate New York, lives with his loving fiancée and two demonic creatures that have chosen to disguise themselves as cats.
- Living day-by-day on a steady diet of body modification and high doses of caffeine, he often escapes reality through fantasy novels, comics & manga, movies, and (of course) his own writing.
- Much of the references to the band members’ piercings & tattoos in Death Metal are based on knowledge of obtained through several years of practicing body modification, as well.
- While he writes in the hopes of entertaining others, a history of depression & anxiety and a desire to help others with similar problems has driven him to include elements of “person vs. self” along with the external conflicts. Most of the time, a piece will have some sort of motivational message woven into it.
