It’s amazing what just one dollar can buy for the truly thrifty fashion shopper Goodwill Industries International of Columbia has a half price savings corner filled with racks most days and one dollar racks on Thursdays and Fridays. There are many Goodwill thrift stores in Columbia. Just enter your zip code to in the box where it says, “Find Your Local Goodwills.”
The one dollar racks are crammed with tanks, tops, knits, tees, beaded tops, sweaters, suits, skirts, dresses, jeans, trousers, skirt and pant suits and much more. This week there are some nice pieces of negligee and formals, and a rack a really nice black leather jackets that look good as new for men and women. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two, and hidden treasures are sure to show up. It wouldn’t be surprising if you met people you know there taking advantage of the bargains too. The sale racks usually drop to fifty cents on Sunday for even greater Goodwill savings.
The dollar racks can also help thrifty fashion shoppers earn a little extra money by purchasing name brand clothing in mint condition, such as Tommy Hilfiger and Lauren jeans, Ralph Ann Taylor Loft and Cato tops, and Coldwater Creek casuals and reselling them on eBay or at your local consignment shop for much more than you paid. Some items are actually donated brand new and have store price tags attached.
At the Goodwill on Two Notch Road is a nice selection of formal wear and bridesmaid gowns in assorted sizes. You will also find a nice selection of leather and faux leather jackets for men and women. There is a large selection of handbags, including a few Vera Bradley styles and a huge bin of new and “like new” plush animals for the little ones, many with tags attached.
The Goodwill on Decker Boulevard has a huge selection of trendy winter and holiday fashions, with racks and racks of sweaters (sorted by size and color), warm jackets and coats, blazers and suits, dresses, and some very nice handbags, shoes, and glittery accessories and jewelry.
The blouse pictured, perfect for layering during the cold weather and ideal for spring, which seems to be just around the corner after the holidays, was only $1.00. It is in excellent condition, and shows no signs of wear. After the mad days of Christmas shopping, it’s really a pleasure to go back to the sale racks at Goodwill and look for treasures.
