Visitors can experience an old fashioned Christmas from America’s past when Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum complex in Dearborn, Michigan near Detroit offers their annual Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village celebration on December 2-3, December 9-10, December 16-23 and December 26-27. It is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Cleveland to Dearborn.
Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village Taking place from 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m., visitors can stroll the candle-lit streets of Greenfield Village at their leisure where they will be greeted by costumed presenters. There will be live non-stop entertainment on 4 performance stages throughout the Village. Among the musical performers will be the Main Street Carolers, Picks & Sticks Stringband, the Dosworth Saxhorn Band, the Christie Street Carolers, the Livonia Civic Chorus, the Greenfield Carolers and the 1st Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps.
Other activities at Holiday Nights include Model T rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, 6 holiday vignettes with great photo opportunities and skilled artisan demonstrations at various historic buildings in the Village. Guests will also be able to participate in ice skating (Skates are available for rental). Seven food stops (try hot, roasted chestnuts!) will be available throughout the Village and if it is a chilly night, visitors can enjoy warming up by the bonfires.
You can also visit Santa and see his live reindeer at the Robert Frost House in the Village.
Each evening at Holiday Nights ends with a fireworks finale over the Village Green and a Christmas sing-along.
Admission to Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village is $17 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $15 for Youth (5-12). Children 4 and under are free. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle.
Special Dining Packages at the Eagle Tavern Visitors can also partake of a holiday feast at the Eagle Tavern in the Village ( a 1850’s stagecoach stop). Decorated for the holiday season and with live music from the period, the feast will be served by costumed presenters.
The menu includes cranberry relish, apple sauce, squash soup, pork & apple pie, roasted chicken with cherry sauce, roasted rib of beef with a brown sauce, buttered carrots and brussel sprouts, herb-roasted red skin potatoes and gingerbread cake with a maple glaze and vanilla sauce.
Cost of the Eagle Tavern feast is $69 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $67 for youth (5-12).. There is a discount if you are a Henry Ford Museum member. The price includes dinner and admission to the Holiday Nights celebration in the Village. Reservations are recommended. 313-982-6001.
A Special Hotel Package Deal The Best Western Greenfield Inn in Allen Park, Michigan (only 2 miles from the Henry Ford Museum complex — literally down the street and around the corner) is offering a special hotel package deal in conjunction with Greenfield Village.
The package for two people includes deluxe overnight accommodations, a full breakfast at the hotel’s O’Henry’s restaurant, two tickets to two attractions at the Henry Ford Museum complex including Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village and a complimentary shuttle from the hotel to the Henry Ford Museum complex and back.
