January can often be a time of the year when we hide in our houses because of the weather. Why not try something new this year. Kent District Libraries have a lot to offer you and it’s all free! Maybe you think there’s nothing of interest going on at your local library. If that’s the case then peruse this list of upcoming January events to see if it’s really true. They have so much going on that you’re bound to find something to do.
Get Appy with your iPad / January 14 @ 10 am / EGR location
-Learn about many different apps that can help with research shortcuts, workplace productivity and even give you free books! No registration is required.
Job Seeker Programs / Through January / various locations
-This program will offer classes on everything from developing your personal brand, networking and behavioral interviewing. If you’re looking for a job, one of these classes could really help.
Early Childhood Essentials Classes / January & February / various locations
-If you are a childcare provider and would like to get some professional development hours then this is the place for you. These classes will teach you things like making the most of music, developing a child’s sensory awareness, preventing childhood obesity and more. These classes are also great for parents. Registration is required for these classes and childcare is not provided.
CARE Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet / January 29 @ 2 pm / EGR location
-The CARE ballet will be performing excerpts from Romeo & Juliet! If you bring your family there will be crafts and activities afterward and they can meet real ballerinas.
Family Movie Time / Through January / various locations
-Several branches will be showing family movies for free throughout the month of January. Alpine will have theirs January 4th at 6 pm & 7th at 10:30 am. Comstock Park will have one on January 21 at 2 pm. Grandville will also have one on January 28 at 10:30 am.
