Sandra Bullock opens up about the cheating scandal that rocked her world. She revealed that it left her feeling “permanently broken”. The scandal and subsequent divorce came after the couple had been married for five years.
In an interview with the Associated Press’ Jake Coyle, Bullock, 47 spoke openly about her divorce from Jesse James. She talks about the effect it had on her and her career. She told Coyle that she didn’t think she’d return to acting because of the “humiliating debacle.
She went on to say, “I was perfectly content to be perfectly broken”. Shortly after she won the best actress Oscar for her role in The Blind Side she learned that James had cheated on her with Michelle “Bombshell” McGee.
McGee made no attempt to hide the affair and has openly touted herself as “Jesse James’ Mistress”. Her revelation led other women to also come forward to allege they also slept with James.
Bullock can be seen in the upcoming movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. This drama that details events following the tragedy of September 11 has Bullock starring with legendary actor Tom Hanks.
“I honestly didn’t think I was in a place where I wanted to work or wanted to step out of where I was…”, Bullock said.”I wasn’t prepared. But the opportunity was louder than my head.”
Bullock gives the credit of enticing her back to work to director Stephen Daldry. She went on to admit how thankful she was to him for doing that.
“So we had a great time. It’s no longer ‘selfish actress’ in the moment. I wanted to have an amazing time with him and, fortunately, Mr. Daldry presented it. In every possible way, it was the best!”
