Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, parents of the super-sized Duggar family on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting are still mourning the loss of their 20th child, who would have been named Jubilee Shalom. The sad parents told People magazine that a memorial service is set to take place this Wednesday.
During a routine check-up last week, Michelle Duggar discovered that her 20th child did not have a heartbeat. Doctors instructed Michelle to go home and miscarry naturally. She did so late Sunday night and was later taken to the hospital, where she was kept overnight as a precaution. Michelle is expected to return home to her family sometime today.
In a letter to People, Jim Bob said…
We have had many tears today. This is life, and I understand that we are going though something that many others have. You think about the what-ifs, but God gives us strength to go on. We won’t be able to see this child’s life and the phases that we’ve seen for our other children, but we know we will see this child in heaven one day. We are thankful for each child, and we are blessed to have the children we have here and the ones we will meet someday in heaven.
In the midst of sadness, the Duggar family had one bright spot this weekend. Josie Duggar, who suffered many health problems due to her early birth in 2009, turned two on Saturday, December 10th. The tiny and adorable tot continues to do well and Michelle recently blogged…
We thank God, and are grateful for the many prayers offered on Josie’s behalf. What a miracle she is, our little sunshine. She is doing wonderful.
New episodes of 19 Kids and Counting will begin airing in 2012. In the meantime, fans continue to keep the Duggar family in their thoughts and prayers.
