November 15, 2011-
Legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi is among the list of high profile celebrities that are being reported to have been listed in a report released on November 14, 2011 by Senator Tom Coburn claiming that the singer, along with Bruce Springsteen, and NBA star Scottie Pippen, “made off with huge farm subsidies.”
The New York Post reported that the “Subsidies of the Rich and Famous” stated:
“From tax write-offs for gambling losses, vacation homes and luxury yachts, to subsidies for their ranches and estates, the government is subsidizing the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Multimillionaires are even receiving government checks for not working,” said Coburn.
Wonder if Senator Coburn has ever been to a Bon Jovi concert,or realizes that Bon Jovi just finished up a 18-month world wide tour, sounds like work to us.
The report called out Jon Bon Jovi as an example of one millionaire who “receives state tax breaks on farm land, allowing Bon Jovi to pay a mere $100 in property taxes in 2010 on his real estate holdings located in New Jersey.
How does he do it? Well Jon Bon Jovi raises bees on his property, while Bruce Springsteen is allowed the tax break because he leases his land to an organic farmer. Coburn went on to state that the millionaires who enjoy the tax breaks total up to about $30 billion a year.
Today Twitter users are torn in their thoughts about this news, some are angry, some are congratulating Jon,and some are exclaiming that this is not fair and should not be allowed by the wealthy.
Here is what some people might know about Jon Bon Jovi, the rock star. Yes, he is a very wealthy man who has made an impressive and successful living as a musician, actor and song writer, and yes he did pay $100 in property taxes in 2010 according to the news reports.
But… What you might not know about Jon Bon Jovi the man, is that he is a extremely kind hearted and charitable man who cares enough to try and make a difference. Jon has used his success and money to do numerous kind things to help Americans.
Not only has Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Foundation built close to 100 homes for families that would have most likely never had a home of their own. He has recently extended that kindness in opening up a pay what you can family restaurant the JBJ Soul Kitchen. Families can enjoy a family style meal, pay what they can afford or volunteer their services at the restaurant in lieu of cash.

Jon Bon Jovi, his wife and family have been reported numerous times to have been seen working at the Soul Kitchen Restaurant and has several other charitable ideas in the making to give back some of his good fortune to the Americans that have helped Jon achieve his success throughout the years.
Jon Bon Jovi does remember where he came from, so before you are so quick to scream foul at the singer for his tax break, you may just want to think about what Jon Bon Jovi may be doing with the money he saves on property taxes, because it does appear Bon Jovi is ‘Misunderstood’ and that a lot of it goes right back out to help the needy.
“Senator Coburn should take some time to get to know Jon Bon Jovi the man, listen to his music, and see what he really is all about before casting judgment,” stated one fan.
“Any interview I have ever seen Jon do he talks about what he has done and plans to do to continue helping the needy in America. He is by far not a snobby, rich rock star who only thinks of his bank book,” stated another.
“I would like to know what charitable work this Senator has done, and how much he pays in taxes. I think it is wrong to announce some peoples’ personal tax information just because they are famous, adds Molly H.
