Fran’s Restaurant (11 E. 14th St., KCMO) has selected Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter as its charity for the annual Holiday Windows on Main Street art contest. The Papa Murphy’s at 1745 E. Langsford Road in Lee’s Summit will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from every pizza sold between 3 and 7 p.m. to Furry Kids’ Refuge.
The Claus for Paws Holiday Raffle benefits Friends of KC Animals and PetEx Rescue ‘n Transport. It starts at 6 p.m. at Boozefish Wine Bar (1511 Westport Road, KCMO), with the raffle drawing at 8:30. Raffle tickets are $5, or get five for $20. All prizes are at least $50 each in value.

Join the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City and Three Dog Bakery for Santa Paws photos. Both pets and kids can have their pictures taken. Printed photos are only $5. The digital file is an additional $10. Hours are Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Photos will be taken at 602 W. 48th St. on the Country Club Plaza in KCMO; it’s just down the street from Three Dog Bakery. At Wayside Waifs’ Holiday Open House, all animals at the shelter will be available for just $25. There will also be pet photos with “Santa Paws,” and holiday treats for all. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the shelter (3901 Martha Truman Road, KCMO).
Join Treats Unleashed (4209 W 119th St., Leawood) for Pictures with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit Kansas City REGAP (Retired Greyhounds as Pets).
Furry Kids’ Refuge invites you to Adopt a Rescue for the Holidays by organizing a collection drive. Download this wish list to hand out. When you’ve collected your items, take them to the Lee’s Summit PETCO (1860 N.W. Chipman Road, Building C) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Or, call 816-277-8284 to make arrangements to pick up your donation. Furry Kids’ Refuge volunteers are at this location every Saturday.
Chain of Hope, an organization that helps abused and neglected dogs in Kansas City’s urban core, is offering free hay for outdoor dog houses from noon to 2 p.m. at the following locations:
- Northeast: Budd Park at St. John’s Avenue and Brighton
- Midtown: 2920 E. 39th St.
- South: Swope Park at the 63rd Street entrance by the arches
HELP Humane Society‘s annual chili dinner fundraiser is from 4 to 8 p.m. at High Blue Wellness Center (16400 N. Mullen Road, Belton). The cost is $7 per person; kids under age 3 eat for free. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., bring your favorite furry friend to the PETCO at 8600 Ward Parkway in KCMO to have its photo taken with Santa Claws. T.A.R.A. (The Animal Rescue Alliance) will earn $5 for every package sold. This event repeats on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 18.
