This is your last chance to see the annual Zoo Lights at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. The last day is Saturday, Dec. 31. The Hogle Zoo is located at 2600 East Sunnyside Avenue in Salt Lake City. Admission is free for toddlers 2 years old and under, $4 for children ages 3-12 and seniors 65 and over and $6 for adults. Persons with a zoo membership get a $1 discount. The Utah Jazz play their first home game on Friday, Dec. 30 against the Philadelphia 76ers at EnergySolutions Arena, 301 West South Temple in Salt Lake City. The Jazz have started the season 0-2 so far in two blowout games, losing to the L.A. Lakers by 25 points and then to the Denver Nuggets by 17 points. We’ll see if the home crowd can help the Jazz get their first win of the season. Tickets are $8-$130 and can be purchased online and at the box office. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
The Utah Grizzlies have two home games this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 30-31 they take on the Bakersfield Condors at the Maverik Center, 3200 South Decker Lake Drive in West Valley City. They face-off at 7:05 p.m. The Grizzlies started out the season on fire, but are now in last place in the Mountain division with a record of 14-12. The Condors are last in the Pacific division with a record of 7-21. Tickets can be purchased online.
To kick off the New Year, the New Year’s Eve Gala with Caleb Chapman and the Crescent Super Band performs on Saturday, Dec. 31 at the Zermatt Resort. This 22 piece band will play at 7 p.m. The Zermatt Resort is located at 784 West Resort Drive in Midway, Utah.
