Are you looking for some last minute ideas for a fun night in with your kids this New Years Eve? It is not too late too to put together several family friendly ideas.
Make Some Noise
Recycle your used water bottles and turn them into noise makers to shake at midnight. Place beads, coins, dried beans inside the bottle and then decorate with paint, tissue paper, construction paper, sticker and streamers.
Make your own festive New Year horns from shiny wrapping paper and posterboard. Cut the poster board in a rounded triangle. (imagine a 1/4 of a pizza) Cut the wrapping paper to size and glue it onto the poster board. Use as is if you would like a “quiet” horn. If you would like a noiser horn, buy a bag of birthday noise makers from the dollar store and insert one of them on the inside of the New Year horn.
Your Own Ball Drop
Have your kids decorate a stryofoam ball with sequins and gems, or decorate paper plates. Add a string and allow the kids to drop their creation at midnight.
Have a Crazy Hat Contest
Make your own party hats out of wrapping paper, leftover cardboard, posterboard, pom poms, pipe cleaners, stickers, sequins etc. to welcome in the new year. Have a contest to see who can come up with the silliest, craziest hat.
If you don’t mind some mess, make your own confetti. Cut up old magazines, newspaper ads, construction paper, or wrapping paper into small squares.
Make a family time capsule
Make a resolution/wish list. Cut out pictures in old magazines to add to the list
Watch your favorite movies
Play your favorite board games
