Today Ft. Lauderdale Jewish community had another Bris, for Levi and Estie Chanowitz, for awhile it was a standing room only the celebration took place in Sunrise at the Milky café. Our favorite Mohel , well seasoned, and always cheerful and a good aim performed his job flawlessly.
You can visit the Rabbi and his family at the Chabad Of Sunrise @ Sawgrass , where services are held holidays , classes, and many more services happen, all are welcome .
The Bris went according to schedule. As always the Mohel, asked the baby’s mother, if she wanted her Husband “Rabbi Chanaowitz’’, to perform the Bris on his son, ,she replied “no” and rabbi Chanowitz of course replied no please , “that’s what I am paying you to do “ , as in all Briss, the Moil is required to get permission from the parents. may they have many more simchas in torah, blessings for all the children, may they be a shinning light for yiddishkite for everyone.
Ever since Hashem commanded Avraham , to perform this Mitzvah, the “Jewish people have been doing this ritual for thousands of years, it signifies our connection to Judaism and Hashem , this is also usually where the infant gets his first real taste of wine.
Jewish law states that circumcision is a ‘mitzvah (“positive commandment” to perform an act) and is obligatory for Jewish born males and for non-circumcised Jewish male converts. It is only postponed in the case of threat to the life or health of the child, it is usually performed by a Mohel on the eighth day after birth in a ceremony called a Brit milah. (Or Bris milah, colloquially simply bris), which means “Covenant of circumcision” in Hebrew.
At the circumcision we declare that this Jewish child will always be connected to G‑d. The Hebrew word, brit, also means ‘bond’. The deepest awareness of this connection is that within this Jewish boy is an actual part of his Creator. The circumcision is a constant, physical sign that within this Jewish boy is an actual part of his Creator.
The Milky café prepared the Kiddush afterwards, great tasting dishes. The Chanowitzs also had their daughter just turning 5 celebrate her birthday יום הולדת שמח , mazel tov , mazel tov, many more simchas to the family and all of their friends.
