The holiday parties have left you with an abundance of leftover food, one including: Eggnog. Tired of just sipping on this yuletide treat? Try making, Eggnog French toast, for a fresh twist on your usual breakfast.
There are many great ways you can prepare this dish; here are a few ideas to get you started:
Try using a more substantial bread such as French or Ciabatta instead of plain white to soak up the thick nog, thin white bread may fall apart too easily when trying to soak it up. Depending on the brand of Eggnog you use, you may need to also alter how many eggs you add to the liquid mixture and of course alcohol such as rum or a liquor like, Frangelico, may be added to suit your taste.
The addition of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, or even ground anise would suit the flavor of the french toast, but try not to add anything that will overpower the flavor of the already delicious eggnog.
The result of using Eggnog for your French toast is a custardy texture with a buttery-sweet flavor that is very pleasing to the taste buds. Finish off with your favorite maple syrup or simply butter and powdered sugar and you have yourself a great way to be creative with your holiday leftover.
